Summer Reading!!!

I'm kind of fanasty genre fan.
Merecedes Lackey The Companion series set in Valdermore.
Raymond Fiest The Kondar series Rift Wars and The Magician (Pug)
Terry Brooks The Shannara series.
Anne MacCaffery Dragon Riders of Pern series.

I greatly enjoyed the Shannara series. I haven't read any further, though, since the "High Druid of Shannara" trilogy.

Although I've been meaning to since I was a kid, I've never gotten around to reading Feist's series (been recommended many times), or any of Lackey's books. I've read a couple of McCaffrey's shorter, non-Pern stories. An Exchange of Gifts was good, for example.

At the moment, I'm reading Ludlum's "Bourne" trilogy and studying for certification exams. Perhaps next year I'll finally get around to picking up these others =).

Of course ... next year should, hopefully, bring Melanie Rawn's long-awaited The Captal's Tower; book 3 of the "Exiles" trilogy, along with the possibility of some other books I've been anticipating. So much to read!!!

She's never going to write it. She said somewhere that she went through a horrible period of depression for a decade or something, and finally recovered enough to write again a few years ago. But she only wants to write new stuff, because Exiles reminds her of that dark time in her life.

She reported last winter that she'd begun it. I do remember reading what you're saying, but that was the reason she gave for postponing. Unless something has changed in the past few months, she's in the process of writing it, now.

It's approaching winter, so the whole "Summer Reading" idea doesn't really apply, here ...

But, I just finished Rendezvous with Rama. When I was 13, I picked up what I later discovered was a sequel by Gentry Lee (the second sequel, actually). For whatever reason, it took me 21 years to get around to reading the Arthur C Clarke progenitor to what apparently became a popular series. I wasn't disappointed =) It's a very good book. I wonder how much time will pass before I get around to reading Rama II? =)

FYI - MTV is producing a live action series based on the Shannara books, by Terry Brooks. It begins in a couple weeks.
