Connection Issues

Post by Tsakarath »

Greetings Everyone,
I am having an ongoing connection issue I cannot figure out. When I try to connect to EQ on my home network either through the launcher or by bypassing it I am having problems connecting. I get the following message.
A connection to the server could not be reached. Please check your internet connection to make sure you are online.
If I restart my computer a bunch of times it will sometimes allow me to connect.
I normally play while I am at work and tether to my phone for internet and have a 100% success rate while connecting with my phone.
Clearly this is an issue with my home network but I cant figure it out. I have altered pretty every setting I can get my hands on and that hasn't helped.
Any assistance would be appreciate.

Open a command line interface/CLI window. Otherwise known as a command prompt by running cmd.exe or however you feel comfortable.

Type the following command(s) and either post screenshots here in this thread or find me in game in the evenings and we can discuss.

Commands:

c:\ping povar.everquest.com
c:\tracert povar.everquest.com

First command will tell you if you can reach povar server and how long it takes. The second command will tell you/we/us how long each "hop" or "jump" in the Internets each step takes, if there is a pathing problem and how close to povar your actually getting. No, we only see traffic up to the last jump before the connection reaches into the Las Vegas host. We don't see the hosts internal network doing this but its close enough. If you wish to have a big debate on AS numbers and routing I am more than willing to have that discussion some other time.
