After a 5+ year hiatus, I returned in April to find that my old guild, Final Assault, had ceased to exist and mainly merged into legendary EIE. I recalled EIE from playing on Rodcet Nife in the earliest days of EQ and later as a more successful rival of FA. I wondered whether such an accomplished group of raiders would have a place for a middle-aged, rusty player with 2014-era gear.
From the day I returned, EIE has supported the development of Xanthippus. Gear, advice, TA's, tomes and other resources have come fast and furious from literally dozens of EIEers, even in spite of my known association with Dinozo. And the support has been friendly, kind and encouraging. I appreciate it very much.
Now on to observations about the raids specifically: having spent 4 or 5 nights raiding, I find that things are well organized with excellent communication. The pre-raid briefings clear and helpful (I would screw things up without them, I suspect). Loot is handled efficiently. Time keeping is instantaneous. And the players themselves . . . Wow, you guys are disciplined and effective. Tank rotations are seamless. Offtanking is outstanding. Heals are superb. Resses (I play a berserker) seem to come within seconds of death, and so do an unexpected amount of battlefield buffs. It is win after win with a consistently good natured attitude, even when we wipe or I arrange to stayed inadvertently keyed up on Mumble during a critical part if an event (twice now).
One question -- is there a schedule with likely targets posted anywhere? I wouldn't mind doing some homework on upcoming events.
In conclusion, thanks for everything, and I look forward to wrecking the bad guys with you all.

Re: Observations by a Returning Raider
Thanks Xan, We try to do our best to keep things moving forward while at the same time keep raiding fun ..... I would like to say yes we could post upcoming events but with EiE having a non mandatory raiding policy it is almost impossible to predict what target can be hit prior to knowing who is raiding that night. I try my best to announce what my weekly intentions are during raids on Sunday nights or a better way to say it, what I would like to see get done for that week. but from one night to the next I need to play it by ear.

The legendary Xanthippus has joined the ranks of EiE! From afar, I had taken notice of your deeds in Rodcet and placed a checkmark beside your name, in the event you ever made the leap to our guild. Now, I may finally rub it out. Mission Accomplished! (BTW we're all middle aged around here, cept for a couple) But you were not always a Zerker, Hmm? Your name rings different bells.

Xan, your observations resonate with me in a way I did not expect. We are disciplined. We are efficient. We are fun - sometimes to a fault! And while I am sure most will shrug any notion of it onto someone else, much of the credit goes to our superb officers. And lastly, to the OUTSTANDING leaders that have graced the guild and raiding force with their steadfast resilience, fostering confidence in all of our members throughout the decades.
We're happy to have you on board!

I can honestly say having been a member since the early 2000's , I never thought we would still be here 2020 yet here we are. Our success points directly at our leadership, they have a plan they follow yet manage to still make the game fun. A winning strategy in anyone's book. The members themselves follow closely behind all you need to do is show up consistently to get their loyalty. Nothing fancy, nothing hard, just be truly loyal and enjoy the day. Yes, I love it here as we all do.
