Speeding up zone times

Post by Mentallo »

Hello,

Looking for some info regarding speeding up zone times. Seems to be very little info easily found on the net.

Apparently there is supposed to be a file called datarate.txt? I don't seem to have one of these. If I were to create one, what would the context be and ideal setting be (7 seemed to be what is suggested if you're on dsl)?

Apparently its possible to enable caching for zone files as well. Any idea where this setting is hidden and what to set it to?

Any other suggestions apart from turning off new models which I'm not going to do.

Thanks!

My datarate is set at 9. As for the caching, I think that it doesn't do anything anymore. It used to, but they changed the way they load the files supposedly and it doesn't do anything anymore. How long are your zone times?

I dont have a datarate.txt or whatever file though...is this set somewhere else?

Zone times could be faster considering I have a fast machine with 2gb of ram on 2.5mbit dsl. Or..maybe I'm just impatient..<grin>

The porn might be whats causing the slow zone times....but thats a necessary evil I just can't do without :D
