Target Marketing Strategies

McCormick?s uses multi segment strategy. Using multi segment posses a few disadvantages but has very lucrative advantages.

Multi Segment Targeting
Advantages
 Greater financial success
 Economies of scale in producing/marketing
Disadvantages
 High Costs
 Cannibalization

So, why does McCormick chose multi segment to target their markets? Easy, because they love food just as much as you do. Everyone has to eat so why not spice it up with McCormick?s. Don?t think of market segmentations as age or demographic, think of it as what types of food people like and how they like it. That?s how McCormick designs their target marketing strategy. Some categories may crossover on each other, but here at McCormick?s we like to cover all the bases.

Examples of Target Markets-

Traditional Spices- Need some pepper or salt, to add that traditional taste to your meal? Or maybe some herbs to grill that fish? Either way McCormick?s has the right spice to fit the meal. The average person will find their meals tasting great with the convenience of making their own dishes or sticking by the ?book?.

Seasoning mixes- Convenience-focused items best describes our seasoning mixes. They are one step seasonings that will fit any meal. Want tacos, but don?t know how to get the flavor just right, try our Taco Seasonings. How about gravy with your potatoes but don?t know where to start? We have gravy that fits any taste. McCormick?s seasoning mixes allows you the traditional role of the cook but helps the process along with taking away the fuss of getting that taste just right.

Gourmet collection- A master chef do you say? Your one with the spatula, well then for the more serious cook McCormick has its gourmet collection to offer. Our gourmet collection takes spices to a whole new level that any serious cook would die for.

On the run- How would you feel if you could throws some wings in a bag, cook it for 30 minutes and be done with it? Have an inkling for some pork chops but no time to baste, spice or grill? Well McCormick?s bag-n-season takes care of every meal. Provide the meat and we provide the flavor. Bag-n-season allows the on the run person to take advantage of a fully cooked meal but in far less time.

Fresh spices- For the cook who absolutely has to have the freshest of the fresh, McCormick?s offers fresh herbs and spices.
