Please go on McPally. I went to USC and have had season tickets for years and years. College football is my life... Ask Dalla ;PI had this big story of my game experience typed out but then erased it. Dalla and I are the only ones really into college football so I thought Id spare everyone my long windedness.
Okay, so basically we know that the Florida schools suck. Sorry Dalla. And Oklahoma got hosed on the on-side kick and the next play involving the tipped pass. Oregon had the game handed to them.
Does anyone not agree that USC is going to beat Ohio State or whatever ungulates out of the SEC -- I hope Auburn so we can smoke them for the third time in 3 attempts OR LSU so we can put to rest this feud since 2003 regarding the national championship game.
Discuss.

I wouldnt be begging to play an SEC team this year. There are several quality teams in the league this year. Among them are LSU, Auburn, Tenn and Florida. Georiga and Alabama will have decent years but will the at the bottom of the top half of the SEC. Come post season dont be surprised to see the SEC be 7 and 2 in bowls, yup they will put 9 of 12 teams in bowls this year.

The only problem with the SEC is its either you are a superstar or you suck. There is no middle ground this year in the SEC. You basically have about 6 teams that could arguably compete for the Nat Champ, and then you have Miss St & South Carolina type teams. The parity is gone and Spurrier ain't doing crap for recruiting in South Carolina. Let's face it people want to go to a big name school no matter who the coach is. Just ask Larry Coker.

Too bad most of the SEC teams schedule patsies (like 1-AA teams) for their out of conference schedule and refuse to play away That is part of the reason they don't get BCS consideration.
Plus, in 2004 when USC won it 55-19 over Choklahoma, Oklahoma started #1 and USC started #2 and never lost a game so neither dropped in the polls. Auburn started #12 and got as high as #3. But how can anyone say they deserved a shot at the title if USC and Choklahoma didn't lose? Their excuse was "boohoo we won the SEC and that is hard to do!" I don't buy into the "SEC is the greatest conference in the history of the universe." I just love SEC fans
I am not concerned about any SEC team, especially Auburn or LSU. SEC offenses are about as exciting as watching grass grow. They traditionally have good defenses, but against garbage offenses in the SEC the horrible out of conference teams they play, what else do you expect? Auburn 7-3 over LSU? Yikes.
That is why if USC is fortunate to make it for the 4th year in a row to the national title game, it will be interesting if they play either Auburn or LSU. USC's defense this year is just as good as any SEC defense, despite the recent injuries, and it's offense is.. well.. almost professional. 49-4 in four years. Not bad.
Bring it SEC. But someone has to knock off Ohio State!

The way USC played on Sat, they wouldnt beat Ohio State or Auburn. Hell they will be lucky to get by Cal and Oregon. I do have to agree though, the SEC teams are NOT that good. Sorry but only real contenders in the SEC this year are Auburn and LSU. Great fans though in the SEC.
I still think Michigan, Michigan State, or Iowa is going to beat Ohio State. I said it on QC and Ill say it here, the real power in the NCAA this year is in the Big 10.

WHAT!? What exactly about USC's 28-10 win over a ranked Nebraska team that had like 86 or 68 years rushing (can't remember) makes you think USC would lose to Cal or Oregon? I agree the offense was not in sync and had some rhythm issues -- Carroll even conceded that, but hopefully they can get it patched up soon and things will click. The way USC played on Sat, they wouldnt beat Ohio State or Auburn. Hell they will be lucky to get by Cal and Oregon.
Cal got hammered by Tennessee who is average at best -- didn't they struggle with Airforce? Cal also played Portland State (Div 1AA) and still gave up 16 points. Longshore and Ayoob are atrocious QBs and Marshawn Lynch is about as overrated as they come, probably second only to Notre Dame.
Oregon does look tough, as are all of Belotti's teams. They are super-quick to the ball. Stewart looks like the real deal (he was going to come to USC but didn't want to sit behind Reggie Bush and Lendale White) -- he's very good, but our defense is excellent against the run. That will be a good game.
Thankfully we play them both at home where we have not lost in almost 5 years.
Ohio State's biggest challenge will be Michigan which played out of its tree against Notre Dame. It's nice to finally see Lloyd Carr win a big game because he usually sucks when he needs to win the most. I will be surprised if Michigan State or Iowa even touch Ohio State. They are scary good with Tedd Ginn Jr. and Troy Smith.
I would like to see USC play LSU or Auburn though.

Any sec team would be a fun national champ game. Just wont ever see one in there, if any team goes undefeated. SEC got a lotta top quality schools, therefore thats the hardest confereence in all of the NCAA~ /punt mcpally!

I agree, Oregon vs USC will be a good one. USC's big issue right now is not Booty and Jarret, its the sheer lack of a defined running game. If they can get that fixed, it will be one hell of a game no matter who has the ball. If they cant, its going to come down to USC's defense vs Oregons offense and what ever the special teams can cook up.
Yeah Jonathan is the real deal. Dont over look Jeramiah though. That stiff arm of his is insane.
Only way USC is getting back to the #1 or #2 slot and get another Championship shot is they must win out and either Ohio State or Auburn must lose a game. Otherwise it will be Ohio State vs Auburn for the big one. USC's only land mines left are Cal, Oregon, Arizona State, and ND. Ohio State on the other hand must deal with Michigan, Iowa, and I still say dont count Michigan State out as the spoiler.
Auburn on the other hand has only 2 land mines left in thier season. Florida on Oct. 14th and Georgia on Nov. 11th. If they pull those two games out, then Auburn should be a shoo in for one of the Championship slots. Personally I think Georgia will put the nix in that plan.
Here are my Division I picks for this week coming up, lets see how I do come Sunday.

If the top 3 win out right now, then I can almost guarantee you that Auburn will be invited to the NC game, if nothing else because it was not invited for the 2004 NC game when USC played Oklahoma. Tommy Tubberville cried like a baby and even declared them "the People's National Champion" (WTF!?!) because he thought Auburn deserved a chance. His reasoning was Auburn plays in the SEC and went undefeated, to which we USC fans said "so what?" We smoked Auburn in 2002 and 2003 with essentially the same team that went to the title game in 2004. So USC just might be on the outside looking in this time -- again, if all 3 win out. However, in 2003 the AP declared USC national champion despite being #3 in the BCS... so who knows.
I agree with you McPally that the lack of a defined running game is USC's "problem" -- but what a problem to have though? 5 freshman and a junior, each who can start. On the one hand it keeps defenses on their toes and tires them out with so many fresh legs and different styles of running, but on the other hand it doesn't really allow one person to stand out. I wish we could have red-shirted a couple of those guys so not sure what Carroll was thinking there, but after everything has done for our program we stopped doubting him a long time ago.
Btw, who is your team? You an Oregon Duck? If so are you coming to LA for the game? Let me know.

Since McPally is cutting and pasting, here are my most recent thoughts posted on Quellious Collective:
Notre Dame sucks. I never thought I would agree with Simplee, but they absolutely are overrated. Last year Charlie Weis put together a mediocre season and everyone jumped right back on the Touchdown Jesus bandwagon. After the ND-PSU game, almost every sportscaster I heard had already handed the Heisman trophy to Brady Quinn because he threw ONE touchdown to Chizmarga (okay I don't know how to spell his name and honestly don't care). GT showed how pitiful the ND offense is against a well disciplined defense. Michigan showed how pitiful ND is up and down the field. I cannot wait until the end of the season when that NBC contract is finally over and they need to sit up and face the fact that they actually need to join a conference in order to gain respect.
Kinda sucks about the whole Oregon - Oklahoma game ending the way it did and then having the cloud of question thrust over it. The officiating crew top to bottom was just suspended and the review committee sided with OK. Now Stoops and the University President is calling for a forfeiture. Good luck, Colorado won a National Championship on 5 downs - and considering Oregon is pretty much on the outside looking in on even a PAC 10 championship, you aren't gonna see any type of action here. Get over it and worry about the Red River game and Nebraska.
I am SOOOOOOOOO glad Louisville proved to be good. I hope so badly that they turn around and beat WVU to knock them from any chance of the National Championship game. I still remember the year that they were whining about not making the championship game because they were undefeated and ranked third and then went to the Sugar Bowl and Florida blanked them 42-0. Now that was football!
