Bad weekend for me!

Post by Hazinson »

Sterted it out by thinking of what I could do for my wife on mothers day and turned out that she did everything for me. Saturday I went up and bought a new grill we been looking at, got a cover and a fresh tank of propane. Then went a bought the nicest sirloin tip steaks I could find, some corn on the cob and some other stuff to go along. Figured Id make my wife a awesome mothersday dinner. I got home and she wasnt back from helping her mom yet so I thought Id jump on the motorcycle and go down and help her. I have a Yamaha 1300 crusier, totally decked out with all the bugs and whistles. I was crusing along and thinking about how beutiful a day it was and how nice the ride felt. When all of a sudden I saw something move in the ditch and when I looked I saw a deer running straight at me. There was nothing I could do, it happened so fast he ran right into the side of me and blasted me crushing the front part of my bike and hitting me hard. I went down hard and rolled up into the ditch, just missing 2 big maple trees. I think I may have been in a mild shock as I then ran up the rode and started picking up stuff that was scattered along the way. I got my bike up and started getting my sense's together and started to see blood. I put a gash in my arm that ended up needing a few stitched but the worst injury was my knee. When i looked down I saw the kneecap thro a hole that shouldnt have been there. Make a long story short I spent the next 7+ hours in the ER as they did surgery on it- removing dirt and stones that was enbedded into my kneecap. So the great dinner I had planned turned out she and my daughter had to cook and I wasnt able to help. Im off of work for a week but my great girls have fixed me up with my pc and everything so I can play from my horizontial position. I feel pretty lucky to be here as It could have been alot worse, I have no broken bones and the doctors say Ill be back to work in a jiffy. My poor beutiful bike is totalled and it killed the deer on the spot. Im very very thankful to the big guy upstairs for always watching over me, but it may be along time before I get on a motorcycle again. :(

I rode for about eight years and have seen a lot of wrecks, luckily was never in one, but quit riding when we decided to have our first child.

So glad you are ok.

Helmet Law

Post by Rany »

Sounds like the bike was one of the most expensive bullets you can buy =( From the post it sounded as though it was totaled. I'm just glad you are all in one piece...there isn't a helmet law where I live and just hope you were wearing one...sounds as though you came out well for such a wreck.

I unlike Katia hope you do not have to reciprocate. Wouldn't that mean your wife would be in some awful accident and you therefore have to take care of her! Katia is sooo mean! <3

In all seriousness it's wonderful that you made it out alright. <3

Perhaps Katia wants Haz all to herself and so dressed up as a deer in order to start this vicious series of events!

Glad you're okay man.
