Well. The post kind of died. I did not want to waste good smack talking when no one was going to read. That and I am not sure how much of a moral leg I have to stand on after my near heart attack Saturday when OSU lined up for that field goal.
For OU, I will take the ranking and I will take the trophy if we get it but I think Auburn deserves to be higher than 3.
I am glad I don't have to put up with the "CANES RULE" crap
Speaking of Canes that used to rule, anyone watch Ken Dorsey stink it up Sunday? I remembered watching him in college and consoling a friend who is a San Fran fan when Jeff Garcia left that they had Dorsey and everything would be ok. Boy was I wrong.
Heisman anyone? Not a prediction of the final trophy, but how about a top 5? The kids that will get invited to New York?
Adrian Peterson -- Oklahoma. I know he is a freshman but DAMN.
Aaron Rogers -- California. This kid really impresses me.
Braylon Edwards -- Michigan. Everytime he touches the ball something good happens. He is almost impossible to cover.
Matt Leinhart -- Southern Cal. I don't really like him, per se, but he does everything right. Good completion % and TD/INT ratio.
Cedric Benson -- Texas. He can dominate any team that is not Oklahoma.
That is who I would pick. Peterson, Rogers and Leinhart are probably right, but I would not be surprised if it is Bush out of USC and Smith out of Utah. If Jason White keeps lighting it up he could get invited back but won't win again.

I'm sorry this Peterson hype is ridiculous. Not long ago they didn't give it to Johnson when he was a 2k yrd rusher with a mediocre line. Now they want to give it to a freshman who not only has one of the best lines in the country but also a great supporting cast of receivers and coaches and even a defense that gets them the ball back quickly. I'm not going to say any back could do as well in his position but at least wait a year or two to make sure it's actually him doing that well.

It burns me to say this. I mean, it really gives my physical pain but I think it should be Cedric Benson. And anyone who knows me at all should recognize what it takes for me to say a Longhorn deserves it. For me it would be between him and Braylon Edwards out of Michigan. Leinhart deserves some credit for putting up good numbers with the rotating wheel of death at wide reciever.
Reggie Bush does not impress me. Yeah, he does nice things with the ball when he gets it but if Pete Carrol thought he was THAT great a player he would be touching the ball 20+ times a game.
I like Peterson. I am going to like him a lot more in 2 years. Xenir is right in his assesments. Though what it takes to win votes are good numbers, you have to win games. Not all of them, but 8-4 is not gonna cut it. Also you have to perform well in your BIG games. That is going to be the stripe on Benson, but going to boost Peterson. In his two biggest games, being Texas and Ok State he racked up big time numbers. If he does it again next week he may be a lock.
Rogers performed very well in a loss agains USC, and has done well in all his games. Leinhart plays well against Notre Dame and UCLA and he is going to move up. I don't think Peterson is going to win, whether he deserves it or not. But he will be invited. Heisman is *supposed* to be for the overall best college player for this season. Is Peterson it? Maybe. Is he one of the top 5? More than likely. I would agree with any of the 5 I listed winning.

What, no 'Canes in the Heisman hunt? BLASPHEMY !!!!!!!!!!!
OK, so if I had to pick someone, I again would have to agree with Mat, and Xenir (Geeze, did I say that?)
Regarding Dorsey, well he sucks. So did Gino Toretta, and Scott Covington. I thought Vinny would suck, but he actually got better with age, but still is just an above average QB. I actually thought Steve Walsh would have fared better coming out of college, but he didnt pan out either. Miami hasnt had any real superstars at QB after Jim Kelly, however Kosar wasnt too bad, but its always been Miamis defense, WRs and running game who have made the 'Canes the monsters they once were. Edgerin James, Michael Irvin, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow Jr, Andre Johnson, Warren Sapp, Jonathon Vilma, Sean Taylor, etc etc etc. Each of those I named arent just good, but are outstanding players for their positions and thats a few I named right off the top of my head!
Auburn has a tough row to hoe Mat. Have you seen their remaining schedule to include a possible SEC showdown with another possible top 15 team?

Yeah. They got Georgia coming up, and looks like the SEC championship game will be Tennessee. A pissed off and hungry Tennessee who is an Auburn loss away from being undefeated and in the mix. They still have Alabama left too. Alabama is not all that, but improved. And that is their big rival game too, ala USC/UCLS OU/Texas, OSU/Michigan kind of game. They take their football seriously down there too. It is not out of the realm of possibility that Auburn ends up with 3 losses before the bowl games. One is real likely, out of the three type games left. I just really like them and they way they play. The SEC is so tough to run the table in. There are not enough Baylors in the SEC to give you a break between getting hit in the mouth.
Dorsey was a pretty decent college QB. Not Payton Manning, but I thought he could stop the bleeding in San Fran until they got settled down. In that list you gotta include Jerome Brown. I hate that bastard, but damn could he play.

Ok. My new bitch. Media. The subject of media bias has come up before but I wanna know WTF is up with the USC love?
OU and USC both had to come from behind to win. USC was down to fucking Oregon State 0-13. OU went to College Station and was down and had to come from 0-14 to win. I think most anyone who knows about college football would agree that Kyle Field in College Station, Texas is one of the hardest, if not the hardest place to play on the road. OSU sat about 36,000 fans. Screaming or not, they can't match the 82,000 at Texas A&M. A&M was ranked, Oregon State is below .500.
Yet the articles on ESPN.com state OU has to explain itself, OU might slip, OU is going to lose votes.
Oklahoma got some nice breaks, forced some turnovers and won a game we probably should of lost. A&M played well enough to win for the most part. I got no beef with some questions being asked, but no one says anything about USC. From what I saw they played pretty poorly as well but everyone still loves them. F'ing media darlings. USC is who I want in the Orange bowl now, more than anyone.

End of the year report?
Heisman. The 5 to go to New York does not include Cedric Benson. Is he getting ripped off? Maybe. I think he is the best player, but anyone who would say he would rather have the Heisman than beat OU has to be a jerk. Beat OU and what happens? You win the Big 12 South, probably the Big 12, and more than likely get a shot at USC for the national title. Heisman more important than that? Ask Jason White.
Given the 5 chose, Leinart is most likely to win. I think having both Peterson and White from Oklahoma will end up splitting any votes OU players might get, Reggie Bush does not get enough touches and I don't see anyone giving it to Alex Smith. His numbers are not as good as White or Leinart in a weaker conference.
I guess Xenir was right for dogging me on dogging my own conference. In the south at least, the Big 12 was as good as anyone else, if not better. Every team in the South except Baylor ends up ranked in the BCS, Big 12 has the most ranked teams.
Conference BCS
Top 5 --
Pac 10 2 teams
Big 12 2 teams
SEC 1 team
Next 5
Mountain West 1
SEC 1
ACC 1
WAC 1
C-USA 1

Big East 1
Totals.
Big 12 5
Pac 10 3
SEC 4

Big 10 4
ACC 4
3 small conferences with 1 each.
Now, bring on USC!!!

from watching games this year I assume OU will be national champs, Auburn rightly angry and maybe next year we'll stop hearing about the pac 10 after they prove to be about as good as the big east. I also think the Rose bowl will prove very interesting though if anyone has citrus bowl tickets I'd be happy to take them off your hands!
As for the heisman I really don't care. It in no way reflects the best player in college football and hasn't for awhile. Its about as bad as not awarding co-national champs to all undefeated teams who play legit schedules. And how the hell is it Utah and Boise get pitted against the only other team in the top 15 they have a chance to beat? What is going on?!?

Yeah. I really wanted to see Utah get whomever got screwed out of the Orange bowl, whether is was OU or Auburn. Utah/Texas or Utah Michigan would of been nice too. As it is, there are about 5 bowl games that have the potential to be good enough for me to want to watch them.
Citrus bowl... is that the one they call the Capitol One bowl now? All these sponser names confuse me.
Auburn got the shaft. The whole college football watching nation did. OU/Auburn would of been incredible. I think we will handle USC pretty well.

Been awhile since i checked this thread and thought i would come back and see reactions after the debacle that was Oklahoma in the champ game and Auburn's win that was more impressive IMO than the score indicated. My Vols showed up and played well against A&M so I am happy on that score.
Would have loved to see an Auburn and USC game get played out ..
