Re: Everquest Vs Al-Qaida
I've been playing this new game called First Life.
I've accomplished quite a bit so far this week including some home inventory, electronics repair, basic auto part replacement and relationship maintenance.
It uses a very open ended quest system and an amazing trade skill system. Skill ups come fairly quickly at the beginning but there can be a significant cost of failure if you weren't up to the task. It's not for everyone, but I find the added risk element combined with near instant biometric feedback makes playing more rewarding.
Graphics are a little sub par and the environments are somewhat bland, but I suppose these are the price you pay for realtime 3d rendering.

First Life? OMG. Go to your basement and make some real electronics. Teach a merit badge for your local Scout troop. Do some real crafts.
Legislating against stupidity is futile. It is a dynamic standard.

Oh so there isn't a game called First Life. There should be! I don't know 99.99999% of the games out there. /shrug.

Actually, the monthly fees for real life are much higher, and I hate the way your character and equipment degrade over time. heh

Re: Everquest Vs Al-Qaida
That's OK, tomorrow in First Life I'm undertaking an epic journey to the far away land of Pella.
A new graphics pack was required for the trip, but there are several optional side quests to keep me busy. The primary quest involves finding a rare flower lost amongst a town festival decorated in similar blooms. I'm told there is a mission that takes place inside a breathtakingly realistic windmill. I'm hoping to bring back some exotic meats and pastries from the journey.
If all goes well, upon my return I'm to be honored in the traditional, and unfortunately annual, ritual associated with gaining a level of experience.
