This article says a month. But I figure they'll do it in two weeks so they can be heroes. I'm concerned that a month without EQ could break my addiction.

And you all need to stop dissing the small-time DDOS hackers. They just provided cover (SoE says it might have been inadvertent) while the big-wig identity theives came in the back door. Who left the door open? My guess is one of the 300 employees that SoE just fired. The intrusion is meant to hurt SoE. Your CCs are safe unless you are one of the unlucky 900 Europeans. SoE is going to give us a free year of identity protection (like Lifelock) just in case someone is worried that your game user name and PW and birthdate are going to enable identity theft.

I did not cancel my cc but did put a filter on them to alert me of charges originating outside the US or of more than $300. I also changed some PWs that were the same as my EQ PWs. Someone did try to tamper with my Gmail on the date of the server intrusion but Gmail caught it.

Just my opinion, but I would guess SoE would have had this up and running again, except that they now have the FBI in house. Have you ever seen what the govenrment does to a business when they are called in. Its now a special project in the hands of the FBI, who has no obligations to the business or the customer. The FBI will have no urgency in their learning curve. Nothing more frustrating than waiting on the ignorance of govenrment to make your business decisions.

Because of the ID thefts, SoE had to envolve the FBI I suppose, but I can only imagine how they are kicking themselves in the ass over it.

From the chain of events it's obvious that Sony had no regard for the customers.

And how you decide to blame the FBI for the delay instead of the company that designed the system that got hacked is beyond me.
If they didn't have the knowledge to build/monitor their system better than the ignorance was in house and not brought in by the government...

you blame the FBI in this case not because of the cause of the issue but the matter in resolving the issue now is held up due to their investigation of the matter at hand. We all know Sony decided to antagonize the wrong people and created a cluster in their security of held accounts and such, but now whether or not THEY solve their problem like tomorrow will not matter until the FBI is done with THEIR investigation of the matter.

First I don't see where Sony is saying they are good to go and waiting on the FBI. I see them still working round the clock.
Secondly, Sony requested the FBI investigation.
Normally I'm all for blaming the government(and its agencies) but not when they are asked to come in and do a comprehensive investigation. Immediacy is nice but thoroughness is more gooder

In closing I want to state that I enjoy pie.

nor will they say they ARE gtg till the FBI is done with THEIR investigation. Could you imagine the reaction if Sony stated that they are ready and gtg to bring all gaming back ONCE the FBI is done with their investigation? heh trust me Sony is not gonna tell us they are ready even IF they are until the FBI is done. Whether they asked for the FBI or not isnt even a question anymore, the problem now is that the FBI IS involved now, whether wanted or not.

And for the record I write this while eating blueberry pie.
