sony servers down?

From my location I cannot access any of the Sony websites or game servers. When I go to a website that purports to check the status of other sites from an independent network, it says they are down. Been this way for a couple of hours, so not just a momentary glitch.

In general my internet seems to be working. I get to our site, to Amazon, to ZAM, with no problem.

But Google doesn't show me any recent reports of trouble with the Sony sites, and nobody else has posted about it here or on ZAM...

What about it? Can others still get to Everquest? Is it just me?

FYI -

Depending on your computer's settings, and any AV/FW software you use which may dick with DNS... you may need to issue the following command from the command line:

ipconfig /flushdns

So, the TTL on networksolutions' garbage is 86,400 seconds (24 hours). However, most ISP DNS resolvers will accept authoritative updates which override the TTL. So, 99% of folks should be good to go *very* soon.

As I mentioned, you may need to run "ipconfig /flushdns" from a command prompt shell with administrative access.

Yeah, that's CYA. As I mentioned, there are many antivirus/firewall applications out there which protect users by seizing control of DNS queries. These could pose problems, potentially. The simple solution is ... don't use stupid shit like ZoneAlarm.

I did the dns flush and restarted and still can't get to the login screen. PITA because I was in the game already. and Taxxii said, 'Login server isn't working' and I said, 'We'll see about that!'
