UK elections

Post by Ventrix »

Most of you insular Yanks probably don't even realise that there is a UK general election this Thursday. Apart from the major parties - Labour, Conservative and Liberal-Democrat and even the UK Independence Party- there are numerous smaller groups vying for our votes.

Thought you might like to see some of their more imaginative campaign pledges...

1 "Visit Antarctica and stand in front of iceshelf shouting, 'Stop Melting You Big White Bastards'. It won't do much good but it's more than Bush & Blair are doing." - Church of the Militant Elvis Party

2 "We will issue a 99p coin to save on change." - Monster Raving Loony Party

3 "Declare all debts null and void." -Vote for Yourself Party

4 "Wear clothes and white make-up to impersonate a highwayman hanged in Scotland in 1811 at all sittings of Parliament." - Adam Lyal's Witchery Tour Party

5 "Allow anyone to give themselves a royal title as long as they had 100 people prepared to act as subjects."- MP3 Party

6 "Free wigs, a pint of beer a day and a free holiday at Viagara Falls for all pensioners." - Rock'n'Roll Loony Party

7 "Organise to constitute yourselves a bulwark against the darkest reaction that is being organised by the US, its ally Britain and the rich against the people." - Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain(Marxist-Leninist)

8 "Scrap cannabis prohibition and free that money for the National Health and education services." - Legalise Cannabis Alliance

9 "All children will be given two birthdays like the Queen." - Monster Raving Loony Party

10 "." - Telepathic Partnership

After they unleashed the Spice Girls on the world, lets hope they keep the nukes in the SSBNs.

If given the option, I would vote for Ventrix because you can never go wrong with a hot druid with a smashing accent singing to you on election day.

What was the one about the free pint of beer a day? I vote for that one.
